Why Should We Use Glass Carboys?
The definition of carboy used in the industry is a container made of hard material with a capacity of 20 to 60 liters. While materials can be hard plastic, some industries prefer glass. Carboys are produced from plastic and glass materials suitable for both water and chemical transportation. In addition, carboys are preferred as packaging material during fermentation. While larger sizes are used in the industry, volumes ranging from 3 to 25 liters are used both in homes and in different business areas.
While there are carboy varieties with different features and lighter structure, why should you use glass carboy? The healthy and hygienic structure of glass is one of the main reasons for using glass carboy. Glass carboy, which becomes ready to be reused after cleaning, allows the water to be stored for a long time without changing its taste. Since it does not produce bacteria and does not react with the liquid inside in cold or hot environments, glass carboy is a very healthy storage container.
With the change of ecological balance, when air temperatures rise above seasonal norms, carboy varieties made of materials other than glass may not adapt to changing seasonal conditions.
It is likely to encounter many problems ranging from changing the taste of water to spoiling the content of the product because they cannot maintain their current performance when tested. On the other hand, glass carboy bottle and other glass products have the advantage of natural raw materials used in glass production. Since it does not chemically interact by nature of its structure, it is always possible to capture the taste of water at the first filling.
In addition to all these features, not being affected by external factors and having no permeability can be counted among its other important advantages. Most importantly, it is environmentally friendly. Although other carboys can also be reused repeatedly, they may not give the feeling of cleanliness that glass provides. Also, researchers believe that chemicals such as BPA used in the structure of some plastic carboys are harmful to human health. Hygiene regulations require that every carboy must be disinfected after use and filled.
